Seamless steel pipes for petroleum are mainly used for seamless steel pipes for furnace tubes, heat exchanger tubes, and pipelines in petroleum/refining plants. Hardness is generally measured by three indicators: Brinell, Rockwell, and Vickers. Brinell hardness is widely used and is often represented by the indentation diameter to indicate the hardness of steel pipes, but it is not suitable for harder or thinner steel pipes. Rockwell hardness has a wide range of applications and is suitable for measuring steel pipes ranging from extremely soft to extremely hard. However, due to its small indentation, the hardness value is not as accurate as the Brinell method. Vickers hardness can be used to determine the hardness of very thin steel pipes and surface layers.
